I haven’t take any weekend trips from Berlin yet but I really should once the weather improves a bit. One of the top picks on my list is Amsterdam, which has inspired me to create this mini travel-guide.

The Sir Albert hotel occupies a former diamond factory in the hip and lively Latin district of Amsterdam. Large windows allow for tons of natural light in the rooms as well as amazing views. The hotel is outfitted in an understated mix of contemporary Dutch furniture, Persian carpets and unusual artwork to create an effect that is equal parts welcoming and sophisticated.

Bar Huf is a part of Casper Reinders restaurant portfolio. This one serves up upscale takes on comfort food like milkshakes, deep fried bar food and Philly cheesesteaks. The Reguliersdwarsstraat location makes this a great late-night choice.

The Albert Cuyp Market is reportedly the longest street market in Europe. It’s also a great spot to grab some lunch from the many street vendors. Be sure to top it off with a delicious stroopwafel and tuck into some people watching.
